Job Description
Prominent SF-based law firm has an immediate opening for an Assistant Controller for a firm-wide role. Duties: -Manages trust and general ledger accountants. -Oversees general ledger and financial statement distribution and special reporting. Duties include oversight of day-to-day transactions, monthly and annual financial statement compilation. -Prepares quarterly and annual management reports for Chair, Partners, and senior management. -Oversees payroll staff and payroll processing. -Oversees professional corporation accounts. -Directs the implementation of internal audit/control policies and procedures pertaining to payroll. Maintains relationships with vendors and escalates systems or customer service issues. Assists in the preparation of the annual budget. -Coordinates with IT department on equipment leasing. Oversees the maintenance of records pertaining to lease payments, expiration of leases, lease buyouts and return of obsolete equipment. -Manages lease schedules and all aspects of equipment lease contracts including negotiating terms with vendors. -Prepares and maintains non-equity partner, associate and staff compensation and analysis reports.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. CPA license desired. Ten years of accounting experience. Law firm experience preferred, but not required. In-depth knowledge of the accounting cycle including preparation of financials. Audit experience is preferred.
